BIOGRAPHY

In her hometown of Iron Mountain/Kingsford, Michigan, Lenita Erickson recalls singing and creating songs while riding her horses at age 8. By

the time Lenita was 17, she was touring the midwest and Canada as a

lead singer. In 1989, she formed Winnipeg’s hard rock band, Shake Naked. She toured with them a few years before getting noticed and approached by several major labels in Canada. While showcasing in Toronto, she was approached about an all female Los Angeles band, Vixen, in need of a

lead vocalist.  Lenita joined the members of Vixen, but this partnering

did not last long.  Lenita continued to write songs and perform, then released her first solo self-titled album in 1997, including Paul Stanley from KISS, industry heavyweights Kenny Aronoff and Ricky Phillips, and

a duet with Eddie Money.   

 

KISS frontman Gene Simmons also took notice when they met at Woodland Ranch Studios, where both were recording at the time.

Gene had recognized Lenita from seeing her in the KISS Fanzine with

his ex-guitarist, Bruce Kulick, who had been touring with Lenita.

Also during this time, Lenita had been actively training and competing

in bodybuilding events. Gene made a comment that he’d back her

up on any business venture due to the tenacity and discipline it

took her to compete. Lenita then pitched him a television project

that she had been creating. Gene immediately introduced her to the

top executives in television, but left her to pitch on her own.  Lenita became a prominent creator and producer of TV reality shows with

The Wolper Organization/Warner Brothers, True Entertainment/Endemol, and Turner Network Television. 

 

In 2014, Lenita created Rocker Ranch Animal Sanctuary to provide a safe and loving home to animals who had been found in dire and desperate situations. Rocker Ranch is home to over 100 animals including bobcats, wolves, horses, donkeys, chickens, sheep, pigs, parakeets, cats and dogs. Lenita cares for each and every animal herself on her ranch. And just as the name says…all of her animals are named after famous rockers!

 

Though television and the animal sanctuary consume a lot of Lenita’s time, she has always found time for her music.
